What's it all about? All properties marketed for sale in England and Wales NOW REQUIRE a Home Information Pack (HIP), which includes a Home Energy Rating Report. The Home Information Pack must therefore include an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), containing advice on how to cut carbon emissions and fuel bills. Also included are documents such as a sale statement, searches and evidence of title. Penalty fines Anyone responsible for marketing a property without a Home Information Pack is liable to a £200 fine. Properties can be marketed if the HIP is in the process of being prepared. Proof can be provided by "Confirmation of HIP Ordered" Certificates which are available as proof of compliance by some HIP providers.
